Stop signs, summer trees, and what FSD sees before I do

From the Driver’s Seat · Jun 20, 2026 · v14.3.3

I've never had FSD run a stop sign on me. What I have seen — especially this time of year — is the car not spotting a sign until it's right up on it, because the trees have leafed out and half-buried it. But here's the thing: once it sees the sign, it identifies it and stops. And honestly, that's the same problem I'd have as a human driver. A stop sign hidden behind a summer tree is hard for anybody to catch. If anything, FSD is probably more sensitive to it than I am — it might pick that sign out a beat before I would. So I don't lose sleep over it.
