Same parking problem, a thousand miles from home

From the Driver’s Seat · Jul 16, 2026 · v14.3.5
Red Tesla Model Y parked alone in an empty row of a Winn-Dixie lot on the Florida coast, with the store and other cars far away.
The Winn-Dixie on the coast. Same parking instinct, a thousand miles from home.

This is the Winn-Dixie down on the coast, and look where it put me. Same story as the Verizon store back home, and the same story it would pull on me at Total Wine the week after I got back. There were open spots up by the door. It went to the back forty. So this isn't my lot, or my town, or one bad guess on one bad day. I've now watched it do the same thing in Missouri and in Florida, which tells me this is how the car thinks about parking and not something local it just hasn't learned yet. To be fair, it parked clean and it lined up straight. It picked a spot no human would pick. I keep landing on the same conclusion: everything between the driveways has gotten really good, and the last hundred feet is still mine.
