Charging stops are just rest stops now
From the Driver’s Seat · Jul 6, 2026 · Road Trip
First stop out of Kansas City was the Buc-ee's outside Springfield. Here's the thing nobody tells you about charging on a road trip: you were going to stop anyway. You need a bathroom. You want to stand up. You're probably going to buy something you don't need. The car wants about twenty minutes. Those are the same twenty minutes. I plugged in, went inside, came back out, and it was ready before I was. I think that's the whole argument, honestly. People picture themselves stranded somewhere watching a battery crawl. What actually happens is you take the break you were already going to take, and the car quietly fills up while you do it.
