At 17%, the car starts turning things off
Same morning as the strikeout warning, same screen, and here's the detail I didn't write about the first time. Look at the top corner: 17%. Now look under the car: Sentry Mode currently unavailable, Low Power Mode is active. Nobody asked me about any of that. Somewhere south of twenty percent the car started making its own decisions about what mattered, shut the security cameras down, and put every mile it could scrape together toward the charger I still had to reach. Which is exactly the call I'd have made, so I can't be sore about it. My phone dims its screen at twenty percent and the whole world thinks that's normal. The car does the same thing, except what it's rationing is the thing getting me home. I made the charger, for the record. The car ran that math before I'd finished my coffee, and it had it right.
