Tesla FSD: Cost & Referral
What FSD costs in 2026, why it is subscription-only now, whether it is worth it, and the one free way in: three months of FSD on a new order with a referral.
How much does Tesla FSD cost?
As of the end of June 2026 it’s a monthly subscription, period. Tesla stopped selling FSD as a one-time purchase after June 30, 2026, so the old buy-it-outright math is off the table for new orders. The subscription price moves around and varies by region, so check Tesla’s site for the current number instead of trusting a figure on a page like this one. The good news is that a subscription was always the low-risk way in anyway: run it a month on your own roads and then decide. And if you’re ordering a new Tesla, apply a referral link at order time and your first three months of FSD are free.
Is FSD available as a monthly subscription?
Yes, and as of July 2026 that’s the only way to get it. Tesla ended one-time purchases after June 30, 2026, so the subscription is the product now. Month to month, cancel whenever, restart whenever. That flexibility fits how a lot of people actually drive. I could see somebody running it just for road-trip season and shutting it off for the winter. Your car does need the FSD computer for it to work, and check Tesla for what it runs right now.
Can I still buy FSD outright, or is it subscription-only now?
Subscription-only now. Tesla stopped selling the one-time purchase after June 30, 2026. If you already bought FSD outright back when that was an option, you keep it, and Tesla gave existing owners a window to transfer it to a new car ordered by September 30, 2026, though that kind of deadline has moved before and it’s worth confirming with Tesla if it affects you. For everybody else the decision got simpler, because there’s no more buy-versus-subscribe math to do. You subscribe, you drive it, and you keep paying for it only as long as it keeps earning its spot.
Does FSD transfer when I sell my Tesla or buy a new one?
A subscription doesn’t need to transfer. You cancel it on the old car and start it on the new one, and that’s the whole procedure. For folks who bought FSD outright before Tesla ended one-time purchases in June 2026, it has historically been tied to the car rather than to you, and Tesla’s most recent offer let those owners transfer it to a new vehicle ordered by September 30, 2026. Those terms have changed more than once, so if you’re sitting on a purchased copy, confirm the current rules with Tesla before you sell anything.
Is there a referral discount or bonus for Tesla FSD?
Tesla runs a referral program that gives something to the buyer and something to the owner who referred them. What exactly it’s giving out changes over time, but it’s been credits and perks that can knock down what you pay for the car or the charging. Using somebody’s link when you order costs you nothing and it’s easy to forget until it’s too late. Mine’s at bit.ly/fsd247-site if you want to use it.
How do I use the fsd247 referral link?
Go to bit.ly/fsd247-site before you place your order, and it applies the referral so both of us get whatever Tesla’s handing out at the time. That’s it. Costs you nothing extra and it’s easy to miss if you don’t do it up front. And if you’ve got questions about FSD from somebody who actually drives one every day, that’s what this whole site is for, so poke around first.
Is paying for FSD worth it?
For me, yes, and I’ll tell you why I think that. It comes down to how much you drive and how much you value showing up somewhere less worn out. After more than a year and better than 20,000 miles on it, mostly on FSD, I’d pay for it again without much soul-searching. It has genuinely made my commuting and my road trips easier. It has also not fixed parking, and I’ll keep saying so. So my honest recommendation isn’t to take my word for any of it. Subscribe for a month, drive your own roads, and see what you think. And use bit.ly/fsd247-site if you do order a car, because your first three months of it are free that way.
